Discover the exciting world of EREMA! On ShowHello! The new virtual event platform presents innovations that have it all: from the latest solutions for recyclers and converters of post consumer, bottle and production waste, to current best practice examples and lighthouse projects.
At this year's Propak East Africa in Nairobi from 17 to 19 March, visitors to the shared trade fair stand (D9 in the Tsavo Hall) can find out how the recycling company Mr. Green Africa combines social responsibility with the highest specification technology and cost effectiveness.
The EREMA Group's assessment of K 2019, the world's largest plastics trade fair, is positive all round. All seven companies and business units were at the show in Düsseldorf and the group of companies presented its entire range of products and services more comprehensively than ever before. They also made recycling and recycling management a tangible experience for visitors to the Circonomic Centre together with partners from the plastics industry.
Plastics recycling, the circular economy and successful examples of closed plastics cycles are the focus of attention at EREMA's Circonomic Centre, which opened today in outdoor area FG 09.1. In cooperation with customers and partner companies from all areas of the value chain, EREMA will be presenting over 30 lighthouse projects and demonstrating live recycling using 14 different materials to demonstrate how plastics cycles can be successfully closed.
The demand for quality in plastics recycling is increasing constantly. Achieving a circular economy for plastics relies on higher proportions of recycled pellets being used in end products - and increasingly in challenging consumer goods. This requires high-quality recycled pellets and a stable recycling process. The QualityOn package provided by the recycling machine manufacturer EREMA enables continuous quality monitoring during the ongoing recycling process. This means that current MVR, IV, colour values and now also the polymer composition of the input material can be measured directly at the machine.
A powerful automation package, modern connectivity solutions and a short delivery time thanks to a high level of standardisation: The new inhouse recycling system INTAREMA® ZeroWastePro, which EREMA presented for the first time at K 2019, is specially designed for PE and PP film production waste processed in inline or offline. Up to 100% of the recycled material can be fed back into the main production process. Also new: A hot die face pelletiser with air cooling, which leads to higher throughputs and lower energy and infrastructure costs.
With newly developed VACUNITE® bottle-to-bottle technology, Austrian recycling machine manufacturer EREMA redefines the benchmark for performance in bottle-to-bottle recycling: highly efficient decontamination, best colour values, top IV stability, low energy consumption during the entire process and the compact design meet even the highest demands in the production of food-grade rPET pellets.
The plastics industry is currently facing two major challenges: the circular economy and digitalisation. EREMA is convinced that digitalisation in plastics recycling is an important pacemaker on the way to implementing a circular economy. The plastics recycling machine manufacturer is promoting this drive in the industry and at K 2019 will be presenting smart technologies and its new BluPort customer platform, where existing and new digital assistance systems will be brought together in future.
The recycling machine manufacturer EREMA sets yet another new standard in the post consumer sector for the production of the highest possible quality recyclate. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recently approved the food contact compliance of post consumer recycled HDPE (PCR-HDPE) produced with the patented INTAREMA® TVEplus® RegrindPro® extrusion system in combination with the ReFresher module. This opens up new opportunities to close the loop in food packaging made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE).
At K-2019, Braskem will provide Kautex Maschinenbau with its innovative bioplastic I’m green™ Polyethylene and PCR for the production of three layer HDPE bottles with foamed middle layer. The result will be a bottle, in which the processed virgin and PCR material, has a drastically reduced CO2 footprint in comparison to conventional products. Instead of handing them out to visitors and finally producing “waste”, the bottles will be handed over to Erema for recycling. With this initiative the three companies will demonstrate their responsibility to participate in the circular economy by helping to achieve future goals with environmentally friendly solutions.
From PET flakes directly to 100 percent rPET preforms: The world's first XTREME Renew Flakes to Preform System, which directly produces new, food-grade 100 percent rPET preforms from recycled PET flakes in a single process step, was recently presented with a World Star Packaging Award in Prague. EREMA, SIPA, Kyoei Industry and Suntory, four companies involved in developing the system, are delighted to receive the award for this unique example of a closed plastic loop.

The future of the circular economy – innovative technologies, effective strategies
Watch the movie and look back on 3 exciting and interesting days at the EREMA Discovery Days 2018.
We thank you for your participation and hope to welcome you again at the next events.
The future of the circular economy – innovative technologies, effective strategies More than 1.000 guests invited by EREMA made their way to Ansfelden, Austria, for the Discovery Days 2018 from 27 to 29 June. Well-known companies from the plastics sector, such as Borealis, Engel, Greiner, Haidlmair and Henkel gave participants an insight into their view of working with plastics in a sustainable way. Besides the technical and strategic answers presented by EREMA with regard to plastics recycling, there was an extensive array of perspectives on the topic of the plastics industry – the circular economy. The conclusion of the conference: only more intensive collaboration within the industry can collectively develop the required technologies which will meet the recycling targets and thus see more recycled pellets used in end products.
The circular economy is the order of the day. And one of the big issues for the plastics and recycling industry of the future. In order for the circular economy to be successful on a widespread basis and to unleash its full potential we have to question a number of things and take a new approach. The future calls for innovative ideas and concepts – ones that span processes, companies and industries. But the good news is: we don't have to reinvent everything. Because we already have effective solutions, effective technologies and creative (recycled) products in many areas.
The situation a good year after the product launch is encouraging: the PET Laserfilter has already been sold a number of times in the inline sheet, strapping and pelletising sectors. More and more processors find the smooth handling of PET melts with degrees of contamination over one per cent, stable pressure consistency and particularly long screen service life convincing. Interested processors can test their own material on the demonstration inline sheet system of EREMA and AMUT in Novara, Italy, from the end of May and experience the PET Laserfilter live in action.
AMUT and EREMA invite guests to experience the closed material loop of PET first-hand from 28 to 31 May 2018. Washed post-consumer PET bottle flakes will be recycled live at the AMUT headquarters in Novara, Italy, to make food contact grade thermoforming sheet in a direct process. This rPET sheet will be used at the Plast Milan exhibition – which is being held at the same time – to make thermoformed trays for the food sector. Interested producers will be able to process their own input material on the demonstration system in future to make plastic rolls. They can then test the samples later in their own thermoforming production to check the quality.

ODOUR DOWN, QUALITY UP.
Refreshing news for recyclers, plastics processors and manufacturers of branded articles: together with the proven INTAREMA® TVEplus® machine, the innovative ReFresher technology removes even stubborn odours from contaminated post-consumer input material and turns it into odour-optimised premium pellets. This opens the door to a broad use of recycled pellets in many new products which we use in our daily lives. At the same time it is a significant contribution which underpins the circular economy approach with concrete solutions. See our leading article on pages 6 to 11 for all the details.
EREMA's Discovery Day has already become established in Europe and the company has now held one for the first time at EREMA North America in Ipswich, Massachusetts, under the title "Circular Economy In Action". Over 100 customers and interested attendees were given an insight into the latest technical developments emerging at EREMA and discussed the current upswing of recycling in the North American plastics industry. Four EREMA recycling systems demonstrated live in action that plastic "waste" has long since advanced to a secondary raw material.
A very special Open House was held from 4 to 6 September at the SIPA headquarters in Vittorio Veneto, Italy, where the unique direct processing of washed PET flakes to make food contact grade preforms was demonstrated live on the world's first PET Inline Preform system. The system will be in industrial operation next year.
With the founding of the POWERFIL business unit, EREMA, the manufacturer of plastics recycling systems, once again extends its portfolio and now also offers the proven melt filter as individual components for existing extrusion plants.
One year ago EREMA announced the relaunch of the Multi-Purpose Reactor (MPR) at the Discovery Day. Since then, the trend towards the food contact grade direct processing of PET products has continued to grow. More and more customers are enhancing their existing extrusion plant by adding the attribute of food contact compliance.
Thanks to a 5 per cent increase in turnover the consolidated sales of the EREMA Group reached EUR 138 million in the 2016/17 financial year. The Group's two youngest sister companies PURE LOOP and UMAC recorded a strong turnover result shortly after being founded.
The manufacturer of recycling systems is relying on new production processes with the optimum use of resources in its production of assembly groups. The new approach enables reduced production lead times for the individual assembly groups, such as melt filters and pelletisers, while at the same time increasing product quality.
